I have an HP Envy 700-214, 12G of Ram, 2TB hard drive, and I'm still using the on board graphics/video card which is a Intel HD Graphics 4600. I would like to record video from games, edit it, and not have the intense frame-rate drops I'm seeing by doing so. Any suggestions? I hear a Radeon 7750 should work okay.

The envy 700 is ment to handle dedicated graphics cards from the factory, so the psu is problably fairly good. Hp does not put crap in their computers.

The hd 7750 outdated and is falling behind performance wise. I think the gtx 960 would work perfectly for your needs. It's a great performer that is easy on the power consumption. You will easily be able max out 95% of games at 1080p. They do sell a mini itx version if you are lacking room in your case.

I would be careful, because HP also tends to lock their PCIe slots to restricted HP videocards only.

I'm not sure about the PCIE power cable, but I'll find out soon. If I don't have that cable, will the PC fry?

I don't have another graphics card to test it, this is actually the first real PC I've owned in a long time.

Haven't you guys ever bought a graphics card before? 90% of them come with molex to PCI 6 pin adapter. I have used the adapter for multiple prebuilt machines like yours. Most gtx 960s only need one 6 pin pci cable because, as I said before, it uses a small amount of power. The gtx 960 I posted a link to has a molex adapter that is shown in the pictures. Make sure you have two molex cables free on your computer.

Edit: the graphics card simply won't turn on without the 6 pin cable plugged in. Also, for the record, the 960 is roughly twice as fast as the 750.
