It also depends on your CPU if you want to upgrade your RAM. Because you could end up getting a bottleneck either way. 4 GBs is pretty common now, but 6-8 is becoming easier to accomplish due to RAM prices going down. If you have like a 4GB stick, then Id'e say yeah. Go buy a 4 GB stick and throw her in there. Just make sure it's the same speed as the current RAM or you may lose speed if it's slower than the current one. But I wouldn't buy more RAM if you are occupying all of your RAM slots because you'll end up spending probably to just get them. 60/70 dollars to get 4x2= 8 GB sticks.

I suppose you could put more RAM in there just to raise the ceiling a little bit. But other than that, it's already a dated chipset. So don't expect miracles to come out of it if you are wanting to do intensive gaming. Especially CPU intensive gaming.

The motherboard will work just fine. Like I said, there is backwards compatibility on PCI-E. He's just saying to make sure that your motherboard is 64bit capable or you won't be going past 3.75GBs of RAM. So if you have a 32bit motherboard, then you cannot use a 64bit operating system on it.
