Okay, well I have a relatively new computer, built in December. On occasion when I do some type of search or open up a program or tab out to go to anything else, my computer will sometimes lock up for about 20-25 seconds at a time, the sound will cycle the same beat until the freeze clears up. I can move my mouse, but it's just a spinning circle of death. When playing games it doesn't really happen, unless I tab out to another application.

I am suspecting that it might be the hard drive, but I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue before and could land some insight on me. This has been happening since day one, but now it's just becoming really annoying.

Specs:
Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
AMD FX-8320
8gb gb of 2133mhz Corsair Vengeance set to default 1333mhz
nvidia MSI GTX 760 2gb graphics card
650M corsair PSU gold rating
1TB HDD Toshiba
Windows 7 Ultimate

Solution
Sounds like a HDD issue indeed, make a backup of critical data just in case and then try running a chkdsk c: /R from cmd with admin privileges and let it run throughout the night, it will take a long time but it should fix any issue assuming the issue is still fixable.

It just finished and it did not work at all unfortunately. It still freezes up.

It could be another partition the problem, however to find out if its really your HDD or not, boot your pc with a live OS from a dvd like Ubuntu with the HDD(s) disconnected, if the freezes don't happen then it's the HDD (or one of the disconnected HDDs if multiple).
