Bought SSD, want to install windows on SSD and wipe HDD to use as data drive, How?

How do I go about this? I want windows and main games on SSD but use my HDD as a storage mainly, what steps do I take to do this?

1. Turn off computer
2. disconnect HDD
3. connect SSD
4. insert Windows install media, boot up
5. install Windows onto SSD
6. install motherboard drivers
7. Shut down, plug in HDD as well
8. Boot up, go to disk management and format HDD, now you can use it for anything

Disk management on desktop or BIOS? When formatted is it going to be clean to store games and stuff on?
