Hey everyone,

I recently brought a new GTX 970 about a week ago and i'm having a few issues when playing games. I only get about 30-40% GPU usage in games like CSGO which causes me to not reach any ware near as good performance as I should. Any help would be appreciated.

Specs:

GTX 970 ASUS STRIX
AMD FX 6300 3.5 ghz
8gb Kingston Hyperx 1600.
WD blue 500gb
520w Antec HCG
M5A97 R.20 mobo

Solution
Yes, stock i5 vs stock 6300 would give you ~30-40% bump in FPS, but just try OCing for now, or even disabling 4 cores on the CPU to see the difference in FPS and CPU usage.

That's because most games don't use more than 2 CPU cores. Overclock to ~4.5GHz and you'll notice a decent bump in FPS.

Not just more FPS but would a better CPU enable me to unlock the full Percentage of the GPU

So what you're saying is that currently i'm getting a big bottleneck with the 6300

no its just the game your playing prefers stronger cores instead of more cores, OC to 4.5ghz will help alot.

So whats the deal with low GPU usage in quite a few games as well as low spikes
