So I built my new pc, installed windows 8.1. Everything works except it doesn't connect to the Internet. I have wired Internet. I tried it on another device and it worked. When I troubleshooted it said- "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver." Can somebody explain how to fix this? I have a Gigabyte z97x gaming 5 mobo.

Solution
You have to install the driver. It usually comes on a disk with motherboard, but do not use it. Go to your manufacturer's web site and download all drivers related to your exact motherboard model and OS (Win 8.1). Make sure you install a chipset, and all available drivers.
