I'm a little confused and hoping someone has some understanding. I'm looking to build my 1st computer in the next few months. It will be higher end, but now im confused as to where to place the boot drive...

The motherboard will be an ASUS X99-PRO with the Intel Core i7-5820k, my boot drive will be the Plextor M6e 256 M.2

So where's best to put my M.2? The mobo comes with an M.2 slot, but it also comes with a PCI-E x4 adapter card, would the M.2 be better direct into the board, or on the the adapter card? I've been looking around but cant figure it out lol

Hoping someone with a bit more experience can explain the differences

Solution
The interfaces are identical (and the SSD doesn't saturate them), so it doesn't matter. If you aren't convinced, you could always benchmark the system using the different slots to see if you can measure any difference.

Thanks, I thought that was the case with it. I just got confused. It will be my first ever build, so im trying to answer my questions, find possible problems before I even begin :) I'd rather save the PCI-E slot.
