I have already put the parts list together, just cannot afford to get anything yet. My budget is £1400 so is a lot of money for some one my age to get (17).

I was wondering whether I would be able to get the case and Psu now, as I can currently afford this, then get all other components together when I can afford them all. Can always test Psu when it arived to check it works.

It's always best to just buy it all at once as new parts are released all the time causing the price of older ones to drop. Just because the fans spin on a PSU it doesn't always mean it is 100% working.

I know it's hard to wait when you're impatient to buy parts but it's almost always the best thing to do

I'd probably just wait until you can afford all the parts instead of buying them separately. Testing the power supply when it arrives is not the same as using the power supply consistently under load for an extensive period of time. Also depending on how long you will be waiting before purchasing the PC you may change your mind about specific parts (perhaps requiring a larger psu/case). Also if you plan on purchasing multiple components from a single store its usually cheaper to buy them together and pay a one-off delivery fee (unless its free delivery).

Ok. I won't get any parts then, but will still get case, it's a large mud tower, so can fit parts even if I change my mind on some. As it's on offer and I have the money think I'll get it. Anyway, it's incentive to get the rest of the money quickly to get on building.

Thing is, the case is a long term investment unlike a lot of other parts, and it has no electrical parts on board to go wrong, other than the on button and wiring, and all the fans that are going straight in the bin. I'm replacing all the fans.

Its fine to replace the fans but I wouldn't bin them, keep them with any other spare parts in case you or someone you know ever needs them. Its what I do with my old reusable parts.
