Just asking for a bit of clarification really. Running a FX8350 on an ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0. Using the Mobos Basic OC/Power settings I had it running on Performance mode which auto clocked it to 4.3 and no issues for last few months. Just last night I ran PRIME95 (first time) and after about 15 mins cores 6,7 and 8 failed. I went back and set BIOS options to default. Changed all modifiers to AUTO and ran again overnight for about 5-6 hours at stock settings and all cores were fine.

Just wondering would this mean its fairly safe to assume the Auto overclock was just unstable and I have no underlying hardware instabilities?

In case in matters, rest of build is
GPU: Sapphire HD6950
RAM: 2x4gb Crucial Ballistix @1600
PSU: 750w Jeantech
Cooler: Corsair H55

Solution
All the cores will be a different temperature, my guess is if you check those cores would be hotter than the others. Either way, I don't recommend the auto over clock on anything. It's best to set it manually and check for stability.

Cool. So the boards auto clock is unstable then. I assume it would be recommended to tweak all settings manually as opposed to autoclock off the bios? Just one more question. Does the reason the core fails on Prime95 bear any significance or hint as to what caused the fail? Two cores failed to rounding issue. One experienced a possible HW issue.
