how can i install a GPT hdd in win7

Windows 7 can read GPT disks unless the drive has failed, so that's probably what has happened to it.
You shouldn't have stored valuable data on it without backing it up to a separate storage device.
I am constantly warning people about the importance of keeping their data backed up.
It's so easy to backup to various types of media these days but alas many PC users seem to think that a hard drive lasts forever.
