best AMD graphics card to mate with A6-3650 processor?

i'm thinking about a "new" build primarily for Steam games, but one option i have is to reclaim an older build (which is currently at the office), move that employee to another machine, and just add a graphics card for myself.

that old build is an A6-3650 sitting on a GA-A75M-UD2H board with i think 4G of 1600 ram. win7x64 pro.

board: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3928#ov

since the stuff is "free", the only things i'd need to add are a graphics card and MAYBE a nicer case. psu is a non-issue (i can replace it if needed). which means budget is relatively flexible.

so what's the highest AMD card for that old processor? i'd want to stick to AMD, simply cuz i already have intel+nvidia in another build. games are from Steam at 1080p, and i don't go crazy with ultra super-high-def settings.

An A6 is not the strongest thing ever, so I figure a R9 270 or r7260x would be great, you will need a new power supply most likely, I would recommend 600+watts. A R7260x is about $110-130 and a R9270 is about $135-$190

Well this is one of the old a6 quad cores that is actually a decent processor. You could pick up an a8-3870k (best cpu your board supports) for 50-70$ and perhaps a 750 ti or r7 260x. If you don't want to touch your psu, the 750 ti would be your best bet. Both of those cards will easily play most steam games maxed out.

well, i wouldn't want to sink money into a replacement CPU for this build. i'd then have an orphaned old CPU and that feels weird.

but it sounds like the best cards for that level of CPU are actually some fairly affordable ($120-$220) ones.

are games from Steam somehow easier on GPUs than non-Steam games? i mean title-for-title.
