Can you still use Corsair Link on the H100i to control waterblock LED color and pump speed with the fans connected to a fan controller? (5.25" physical)

I've only ever run it like the manual says with the fans plugged into the block and the SATA power and Corsair Link USB cable. Will the Corsair Link software freak out if it sees no fans connected?

Frankly, I'm tired of Corsair's buggy Link software, and that's why I'm buying this fan controller. I still want to be able to change color profiles on the block though, and control the pump, which can only be done with Corsair Link. So yeah, can I do it that way. I already know Corsair Link doesn't play nice with AISuite, so that's why I'm asking this question.

Extra info: Fan Controller: ASUS RoG Front Base : Yes, I know the Front Base works a bit different in that it plugs into the ROG_EXT port, but I still need the rad fans plugged into the CPU fan headers.

Thanks in advance!

I don't like the link either. The H100, H105 and H110 are all link free. So are the Fractal design Kelvin S24 & S36, Cooler master Nepton 240 and most of the older NZXT and Swiftech coolers.
Yes, it will freak out. Well, actually it will probably just error out. Without being connected via a method that allow for monitoring of the motherboard RPM signal for the necessary headers the link will have issues. If you want to use a controller for case fans, that's up to you, but the CPU fans need to be correctly connected to my experience.

Okay, then what liquid cooler isn't crippled by some crappy software like Link? It's pretty clear at this point that Corsair declared war on anybody trying to not use Link on their "i" devices. I can't stand the software anymore. It's literally worse than their software for the K70 RGB. Should I get the NZXT Kraken x61 instead then? Or does that also have a bunch of software that doesn't play nice with fan controllers?

I guess I'm sort of perplexed as to why on ASUS' RoG Front Base and OC Module that they blatantly encourage using it to control your CPU fans, but they also have pretty intensive OC profiles on their "CPU Level Up Button", which means they definitely aren't referring to any old Asetek 510 or fan based heatsink.

After reading your comment, I went down to my local Fry's Electronics to check out the CM Nepton 240m. I then did some research around the web to find out performance.

I finally pulled the trigger yesterday. I tore out my H100i, which is now safely sitting in my brother's FX-8370 rig, and went down to Fry's to buy the Nepton 240m. It installed like a dream, and I'm getting even better performance out of the Nepton 240m than the H100i (go figure)

I just want to take a moment to thank you for all your help. It works perfectly plugged into the mobo CPU fan headers and the ASUS RoG Front Base reads it like a charm. I wasn't even aware that Cooler Master made liquid cooling solutions until seeing your comment, so again, thanks so much.
