I have recently upgraded my cpu from pentium to i5 and it mostly works however 25-30 mins after booting the computer shuts down as if I had held the power button. The laptop is not overheating and I am unsure what is wrong. I have an acer aspire e1-531.
Laptop shuts down after 25-30 mins after boot every time.

How do you know it isn't overheating? Certainly sounds like a heat issue to me, It's a classic cause of a sudden power-down as computer's are designed to do that to prevent permanent component damage from excessive heat.

Might be due to Mainboard/CPU combination. It is known if you have intel hm70 chipset and put in i5 the system will shut off exactly after 30 min,
