Toshiba M5 won't BIOS after CPU upgrade

I've spent the last seven hours trying to diagnose this by myself, with no luck. So I made an account here in hopes of getting some help.

Okay, so my old HP Pavilion DV6 has kicked the bucket physically. The RAM, HDD and CPU were all fine, so I salvaged them and put them into an old Toshiba Tecra M5 my dad gave me.

The RAM works fine, and the HDD transferred across with no issues. I just got around to ripping the CPU out of the DV6 today, and found that it fits the socket on the M5.
After putting it in the socket, I couldn't get the laptop to even launch the BIOS. Mechanically, it all starts up and runs for a couple seconds, then cuts out.
I put the old CPU back in the socket, and all is fine. I updated the BIOS to Version 3.2, but still no luck with the new CPU.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Some information that would probably be useful:
Device: Toshiba Tecra M5 (Model no. PTM51A)
Mobo: Toshiba Portable PC Version A0
Chipset: Intel i945PM
Southbridge: Intel 82801GHM (ICH7-M/U)
CPU (old): Intel Core 2 Duo T5600
CPU (new): Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 (new)
BIOS: Toshiba Version 3.20 (12/26/2006)

One has a 667 FSB and one has an 800 FSB. I would say the upgrade isn't compatible with your laptop.

you should not change the parts of the laptop as they are fixed and changing them is going to cause issues you can only upgrade ram of a laptop and hp and toshiba are different brands so the vendors have made little changes in their parts in simple words those parts will not work anywhere except the laptop also the tecra is very old and dv6 is newer. So there are chances that the old hardware in toshiba does not support the new hardware of pavilion dv6

Hope i helped

Ah, didn't notice that when I was looking at the specs. That's a shame, was hoping to beef this thing up enough to do some half-decent mobile computing until I can afford a new laptop.
Might give Toshiba a call in the morning with fingers crossed for some kind of workaround.

Thanks for the help though, appreciate it.

An Intel cpu is an Intel cpu. And that includes mobile cpu's. They aren't made different for anyone. And that even includes Apple. There are a good amount of laptops that have socketed cpu's that can be upgraded as many models actually came with different cpu options available. In this case it didn't work for him but in many cases the opposite is true. So don't try and tell anyone that laptop cpu's can't be upgraded.

Didn't hurt to try. That is what it is all about for enthusiasts.

You are picking out one specific laptop. That means nothing.

cpu upgrade means nothing today's laptop cpu's cannot be upgraded because they are customized by manufacturer

I am done arguing with you. People have had success upgrading laptop cpu's on this forum. Many high end laptops are cpu upgradable and have BIOS updates with updated AGESA and FSP packages.
