Bad GPU or CPU bottleneck?

I just received my new GPU a couple days ago. In bf4 on the first day it ran great, I was averaging about 90 fps on ultra with no problems. The second day the average fps dropped to about 70 and then the freezing started. Total system freezes requiring a manual restart, so unfortunately I couldn't retrieve any logs. Finally got the system to stop freezing after multiple tweeks, and driver installs and reinstalls (including blue screens twice while installing catalyst), and also moving the card to the next express 16 slot. Then average fps of 60 for the first 2 hours then down to 35. Doesn't matter what settings I have the graphics on, it doesn't change the fps which doesn't make any sense to me. My computer was very stable before I put the card in. Also should note i disabled onboard graphics after the first freeze just in case they were clashing. Any ideas? I personally think the card is a dud, I know the CPU will bottleneck the card, but the freezes and fps drops lead me to believe its the card.
Here at my specs
Amd a10 7850k
Asrock extreme6 a88x
8 gig G skill sniper series 2133 ddr3
Crucial mx100 500gig ssd
Sapphire dual x Radeon r9 280
Rose will stallion rd700 700w psu

The CPU looks like the weakest component in there so that could be the cause although you did say it was working fine on the first day so either your graphics card has corrupted (unlikely as this would usually cause the card to not work at all)... Secondly it could be the PCI-E slot on your motherboard that has corrupted.. you say you moved it to the second PCI-E slot and the framed dropped from 60->35... Just check that the slot you move it to is x16 and not x8.

Also ensure the drivers for the graphics card are up to date from Sapphires/AMDs websites

Beyond that there is very little i can suggest

Thanks for the replys! Its within the return period, so I'm going to RMA the card. I'll post an update when the new one arrives and I run some tests.

#1 - I think it might have something to do with the bios not liking the SLI and somehow switching it to onboard graphics on the AMD APU make sure onboard graphics are completely disabled in bios #2 - I don't think you have enough power needed for the SLI of dual r9 280s, my guess it's either one of these 2 solutions I posted or maybe a combo of both, I had a similar problem with my son's build added 2 gtx 660 ti and came to realize after the freezing and the low fps that the problem was I needed almost 1000 w psu to run them both on full load along with everything else it was running, I ended up getting a 1250 w psu, in the end I returned the extra card and the psu because the SLI only helped with about 10 fps, not worth it at all whether you have the budget or not, your eyes cant see anything past 60 fps, throwing away your money never a good idea, ask Warren Buffet one of the planet's richest men if that's a smart decision LOL I'm pretty sure he's not a gamer but get my drift

goldox: it's most definitely your PSU you need 500 watt per card, checked your card out and you wont be able to run them both on a 700 psu it doesn't matter whether it's a copper, gold, platinum or unuptanium edition psu , it just wont work, I'm surprised you are even able to boot up your system

It is a single card and 700watts is plenty!

yes 1 card should be enough but I would still go for a 800 watt psu specially if the 1 card on full load is eating away 500, funny thing is I'm no computer expert but this very exact scenario happened to me with my son's build I even got the A10-7850K CPU at the very beginning which realistically is a decent Quad Core but I thought I would be able to run games on high settings also coincidently BF4 was my measuring stick, tried to add a 6270 to pair up with the APU graphics and they didn't work well together, long story short, I was able to return the whole set up minus the 750 psu then ordered a FX 8350 CPU, ASUS Motherboard Sabbertooth Rev 3, 16gb 1600 DDR3, 2x gtx 660 ti and a 1250 w psu ended up spending over $1,200.00 and my original budget was $400 I was so fed up with it, I got back like $450 to $500 back for the extra card that I decided wasn't worth $300 for an extra 10 fps and the 1250w psu that I definitely didn't need now and ended up getting a decent 850w psu, I could build today a great budget pc for about $450 or less AMD FX 6300, Asus board, AMD R7 265x 2gb ddr5 just $150 but similar in performance to a gtx 660, 800w psu, 8gb 1600 ddr3, 1 tb hd, decent case, bluray player (ssds are nice if you want to boot up windows or any OS faster or launch your games faster) beyond that, once a game map loads up, there is zero improvement in gaming or at least I haven't seen any, BTW APUs will be dominant in the future but right now until AMD gives you a real option on mid to high range integrated GPUs then just go with a CPU and a GPU seperate

550watts is what is recommended for a system with a single R9 280 since total system load is only around 400 watts. The card itself will hardly reach more than 250watts.
