I'm getting psu problems, for one coilwhine and one being that overnight, my FPS in games has gone down significantly. For some reason in CS:GO I get 20 FPS whereas before I was getting 144+
In some games I still keep the same framerate such as bioshock infinite.
I recently upgraded my psu from a CX600 to a CX750, and nothing has been good about the new one, other than power.
Can psu power effect fps in games? I ran my 780ti + 4770s fine with 600w.
I ran FurMark yesterday, might that be the issue? It was fine before that.
Another thing, should I RMA the Power supply? It seems the coilwhine is loud enough to RMA anyways.

Solution
Coil whine in PSUs is usually a sign of deeper underlying problem. Coil whine in lower tier PSUs appear even when they are brand new, when they are pushed more than idle. Most low quality PSUs exhibit coil whine even at 50% load. With the low build quality of a CX unit, it is expected to fail soon.

Change that PSU immediately. Corsair CX uses Chinese capacitors on the secondary system which is know to fail a lot. RMA the PSU and change it. 650W quality PSU will be plenty. Seasonic, XFX, Corsair AX, AXi, TX (avoid CX, CS, VS at all costs) Rosewill Capstone, Antec Earth Watts, Be quiet! L7/L8 and P10. These are just on the tip of my head.

P.S That PSU tier list needs some serious updating. A lot has changed.

I understand the list needs changing, but its a good starting point nonetheless.

Thanks, I think I'm going to return it (hopefully for a refund) and get the EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750w. Only £15 extra so no biggie. I was in a bit of a pickle, my 3y/o psu had failed and I needed the PC on that day so I had to get one at pcworld haha.
Wondering if they will give me a refund though, because technically it is still working, do shops accept coilwhine as a valid reason to return, or should I call Corsair?

Cheers! Coilwhine is happening all the time, it's not loud enough to hear it below 10%, but after 25% You can really hear a humming. Anything above 50% is worryingly loud. It has a fast on and off electric sound (best I could describe it) which could be something hitting the fan but there is nothing there. When running Heaven 4 it's louder than my GPU, CPU + Case fans so I guess that's a good reason to return it.
Again thanks for your help :)

Pc world are usually pretty lenient about the reason for return. If its within 30 days they give you a refund no questions asked but if its more, they will only do a repair unless you have purchased extra cover for it ( I doubt you have).

(At Least from my personal experience .)
