Greetings,

I bought myself a new computer to assemble
Seasonic X-series 650W SS650KM3
MSI Radeon R9 208X Twin FrostR Gaming
Intel Core i7 4090K Devil's Canyon (4Ghz)
Noctua radiator and coolers
Asus Z97-A
HDD 2TB Seagate
HDD 256GB SSD Crucial
2*4GB G.Skill RipJaws F3-2133C9D
Windows 8.1

Windows is running OK
Internet, with any browser; OK
Hearthstone playing OK, in normal graphics

But as soon as I do something more demanding such as:

Hearthstone in "high" graphics
Adobe Premiere CC or Sony Vegas
Call of Duty 4
Sniper ghost warrior 2

-> my computer quickly freeze-die in an aweful black-greenish screen

If I replace my graphic card by another one, an older Radeon HD 6xxx model, all the above is working fine.

If I put the R9 card in my older computer that still has another tier1 650W PSU, it fails the same way.

So it's definitely the graphic card, right?

Either the card itself or the PSU I thought....

But the PSU should be good, tier 1...

I was using an extension / power strip so I tried to plug the PSU directly into the wall plug to make sure it was not outside component being too faulty.

It did not change a thing.

But... should not the PSU tier 1 650W be enough for my config?
Could it be the graphic card being somehow not working when on charge?

Or the CPU? it seems pretty cool under its big radiator though...

Either the PSU or the graphic card seems to be at fault; and they are both pretty expensive.... (T_T)

Any advice would be more than welcome m(_ _)m

Solution
I dont think the problem is because of the PSU. All other components working fine means PSU is not the problem. Also you said that the Graphics card gives problem when you install it in your old built. It is Graphics card Fault. If it is modular try to plug the wire in other PCIe power connector or if it is not modular then try to plug other wire to the Graphics card. Seasonic Makes really good power supplies. Try to do some stress test to GPU, if any error/BSOD occurs then it is definitely GPUs fault.

Download it and do a stress test.
