Hello,

Would it be possible to add a 4GB stick to my existing 2x4GB set up? All three will be the exact same model and make so I'm hoping there's no conflict in that department. My mobo is a MSI Z87-G45 gaming and the ram is of this model http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006WAGG14?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

So I'm hoping to go from a 8GB set up to a 12GB set up, or would it be more effective to go for 16GB? Even though I don't really need that much but I am finding that sometimes my ram is strained and I would like some extra leeway as I can afford it at the moment.

Thanks guys.

Solution
get 2 more 4gb's so that everything will run in dual channel. adding 1 stick will force it down to single channel, you need even number of sticks to get the full benefit of dual channel.

Hahah well I've jumped the gun and already bought one! Should I cancel that order and buy a 2x4GB kit or shall I just place an order for another 4GB stick? I'm guessing that 2 2x4GB kits would play nice as they would run in 2 seperate dual channel modes, is that correct?

I guess you could place an order for another 2x4GB stick kit.
