I have a Lenovo Y500 laptop (1 TB HDD, 8 GB RAM, 2 GB NVIDIA GT 750M). From the past week, the laptop is not hibernating or sleeping even when I set it to do that. Its always a fresh restart.

When I start the laptop and the desktop comes up, I believe some kind of background task is running as clicking on any icon, ctrl+alt+del does not work for atleast 20 mins.

I am not sure what the problem is. Any help would be useful.

I disconnected all the external peripherals and started the laptop. It worked fine. I connected my mouse, keyboard and external monitor and had no issues. Browsed for around 2 hrs and I was able to hibernate/sleep the machine. I played Skyrim for around a hour and closed it. Then I get this message "ssd port 0 not detected". Then immediately after that message, I get another message of trying to connect to the same SSD port.

I opened INTEL device management and I could see that my HDD is connected with the correct size, version, serial number etc. But for the SSD even though its connected, the size is shown as 0 GB and there is no serial number associated with it.

The SSD (16 GB) was part of the laptop when I bought it from Lenovo. I think its used only for caching as all the OS files are on my HDD. Is there a way to disable the SSD by transferring the caching to HDD?
