Based on Google Search of "Mouse and Keyboard lock up intermittently - and requires hard restart each time" - solution came up that I needed to update drivers and should download DriverUpdate - It did not help - and I still have to shut / power down and restart my computer an average of once every hour. DriverUpdate was supposed to be one of Microsoft's approved vendors. Thanks for any help you can provide - my main reason for post was so that no one else would be duped. Rand

Those automated driver update problems are not reliable.
Better off going to the manufacturer of your keyboard and mouse and looking for an updated driver directly.
