External Hard Disk containing important data is showing up in disk management but not in my computer. dont wanna format it. i have seen many videos but all of them ends up with formatiing th e drive.!
or if i have to format it to use it again , is there any way to restore aur backup the data in drive?
please help.!

If it shows as "raw" you probably need third party software to recover it. If it's not raw and not "unallocated" it may just need a drive letter assigned.

was this external moved from another computer and did or does it have windows on it ?

Ahhh, you used it on a TV set-up box for recording? And why would you do that with important data, unless you are believing that the important data is the video recordings from the set-up box. If so, you won't 'recover' that data.

Most likely you lost your data. The TV set-up box, which I assume you mean something like a cable box probably reformatted the disk in order to use it.

it shows ' raw ' . i downloaded a third party software but my external hard drive does not appers in options to recover the partition
