i want to get a i5 for my computer, which means switching platforms, but never the less, im going for an i5, and im going to do video rendering on the pc. that is pretty much it :D

Depending on how much you want to spend an i7 with a H97 board will be better for rendering than an i5 4690k even OC'd and by the time you factor in a better cooler with the i5 might not be that much more as you would be using a cheaper mobo and non overclocking CPU which can run happily on the stock cooler.

the Z97-P is a good starter board but lacks some of the good features for overclocking. If your wanting to stay with Asus then look into these board for good overclocking features, z97 boards; -A, -AR, -WS, Pro, Deluxe, hero, ranger, or formula.

Another downfall to the z97-p is that it does not support sli or crossfire, but that's only if your wanting more then 1 GPU.

unless there is no compatibility issues at all, then ill take it, but i do plan to play games on this machine, as well as recording them, then ill consider taking the Xeon over the i5

Shouldn't be any issue there. You don't even need Z97.
