with power supplys and gaming pc it the wattage and amps on the 12v rail and the brand and how well built a power supply is if it can run day to day near it max output. what you want to do is look at your cpu wattage and the wattage of the gpu. add them together then look at the wattage of the 12v rail see how close you are to it max output. for the amp your using take the wattage and divide by 12. so 480w would be 40amps. gpu vendors put in a min size power supply so that the 12v rail have the amp and wattage needed for high end cards.
