Having problems with my new gaming build. Has anybody got any ideas?

I've have recently put together a gaming build but I'm not getting the performance out of it that I was expecting. I have a stable CPU overclock, fully working hardware, all up to date drivers but it still isn't working properly. While playinf Farcry4 and Battlefield my fps are sitting around 15-20 and when anything demanding seems to happen the whole system freezes and crashes. Any help would be appreciated.

My build:
AMD FX-8350 @4.7Ghz
Gigabyte 990fxa-ud5 mobo
MSI GTX970
Corsair AX860 PSU
16GB HyperX Fury @1833Mhz (2x 8GB)
Zalman CNPS9900MAX cooler
7 case fans
2x 2tb Seagate barracuda
Windows 8.1 64bit

  1. Try setting your comp power settings all the way up. Windows default is balance-power saving.

Get some monitoring sw (RIVAtune...etc) and see if anything stands out. I'd re-install graphics drivers and backing down your CPU clock (i.e., 4.4Ghz). Reboot, and test. Let us know what you learn friend.
