system specs =
i7 2011 3930k
evga 680 gtx 4gig vid card
new mobo = msi gd45 plus (asus sabertooth x79 died and i rma'd it and it came back with bent cpu socket pins)
tried 2 different brands of ram ddr3 = corsair dominator 8x8gig set(replacement set from corsair) and g.skill 2x4gig set
farthest i got for install from disc was 70%

and i already replaced the optical drive...was asus before, now on lite-on optical drive.
tried 3 different sizes of seagate hdds 500gig, 1.5tb, 3tb, and also a samsung 850 pro 128gig ssd. been stuck on this for 2-3 months now. after checking various web sites and even youtube. i feel like i'm replacing the whole pc part by part to get this working again. i keep getting some sort of error(not all the same ones) on the install..then it tells me to reboot and try again or check install files. machine is capable for usb boot so i could dl an iso if i can find one, current ms website offers are for making boot usb from windows 7 machines but not this one..which is xp.
i have sources to find clean copy of 8.1 pro or some all in one release version..but wondering if it will accept my legal key and install properly(hacked versions use mbr sectoring of hds..no hd over 2tb allowed or the os crashes) so i can use my 3tb hds for storage. been putting off the idea of rebending the asus mobo socket pins back in place for a yr now.

Download the ISO from torrents or Microsoft directly, and make a bootable USB drive. Copy the ISO to the drive, and when prompted for a activation key just use your legit key. It should work. I don't even have a DVD drive anymore, so I do the same for any games that I own on disk now. It always works as long as the key is legit. Hope this helps.

How to make a bootable USB drive to be recognized in the bios as bootable:

Looks like you won't need to use torrents at all if your key is legit. You can just get it directly from Microsoft, according to the link I provided ;)

i accidently made 2 threads of this, but this one seems to be more helpful so far. got an idea, trying something a bit different. if i keep getting problems after alternate source iso(secure private torrent source), i'll swap out the msi mobo for the asus one with the bent cpu socket pins(i'll have to bend them back in place to make this work somewhat) then try either the brand new x64 disc i got from newegg(one i have been trying to install for the past 2 days now since i replaced the optical drive) which i bought last month, or the alternate source iso via usb stick and hope my key works for it as well. i got like 5 hds to do data recovery and i need my x64 sys back online. alternate source iso has home retail and oem versions on it from what i can tell..will try home full version first, if that don't work, will try oem.

oh an that link u provided, it's only links to a creator tool that only allows win 7 users to do iso downloads...not xp, and i need it for a different pc, not the one i'm downloading and creating a bootable usb drive from. which that tool is freaky about.
