I have a Xeon E5630 cpu and it says it is a LGA 1366 socket type. Do I need to use a motherboard that says it is compatible with that exact socket type? So like can I use a LGA 1155 motherboard with the xeon? How specific is socket type? When buying a motherboard and cpu do I need to search for LGA 1155 cpu for the motherboard and nothing else? I am not a professional, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, the socket type must match the motherboard. Exactly. So you need a LGA 1366 motherboard to use that processor.
