Starting up the machine (without OS or SSD yet) and reaching BIOS goes kinda slow, and most of the times the mobo hangs with BD , B6 or B7 QCode.
For now, until my SSDs will arrive, I am just playing with the BIOS features trying to overclock but looks like it doesn't like any of the settings I put. And it takes too damn long to enter BIOS, or to give me the F1 screen.
Any suggestions?

Asus Strix GTX980

My BIOS is 7010. I tried updating it to 8010 but won't work. Using BIOS Flashback Button with the latest bios on a USB doesn't do anything and EZFlash 2 Utility doesn't see the drive. Maybe is because the thumbDrive (Fat32 btw) is a 4Gb, and I've read on forums that it should be less than 1Gb. I'll try that later when I'll get my hands on a smaller thumb.

I just recently got the X-99 Deluxe and the BIOS loading is dog slow compared to my old comp of like 7 years ago and would very much like to figure out how to get it to boot to the OS faster. But as far as your issues updating the BIOS using the USB flashback there are some specifics you might be missing. As in depending on your Mobo the USB BIOS flashback looks for a specific file name on the root level of the USB, and it's not the default name of the file when you download it. Here is a link that has the file name details that I referenced when I was overclocking and thought I had bricked my X-99 Deluxe. http://event.asus.com/2012/mb/USB_BIOS_Flashback_GUIDE/
