USB keyboard and mouse stop responding at the same time

So this is a bit of a puzzler for me as I have been trying to figure this out for the last few weeks but have had no success. Basically, this all started about 3 weeks ago. I mainly play CS:GO, and I started noticing that after letting go of one of the movement keys, in example D to strafe right, I will physically release the key, but my character will continue to move in that direction for an extra half second or so. This originally started happening maybe once every few hours, and more recently has been happening a few times every half hour. I use a mechanical keyboard (Corsair K70) that is about 2 years old, so I thought it could be keyboard chattering causing the issue. I actually went out and bought a brand new keyboard to see if this was the issue, but the same thing is happening. Now, within the last few days, the mouse will lock up when the keyboard glitch happens. This only lasts for half of a second normally, and I only started noticing it in CS:GO. The LEDs on the keyboard/mouse do not shut off as if they stop receiving power while this happens.

Things I have already tried:

  • Wiping and reinstalling drivers for mouse/keyboard
    Changing USB ports
    Different mice/keyboard combinations
System restore to before it started happening
    Windows repair
    Reinstalling game

I am running out of things to try, and was wondering if it could be an issue with the USB ports shorting or something along those lines?

Anyways, I apologize for the wall of text but it's such a weird issue that this was the best way I could explain it, and hopefully someone will have an idea as to what could be going wrong or some other steps I can take to try and remedy this.

Thanks!

I don't suspect a hardware issue. Did you try using the keyboard and mouse on an other PC or on a linux boot CD?
It is most likely some lag occurring in windows causing the driver service to freeze. Mouse lag is often caused by the Hard Drive and Swap/Page files.

I have not, that was my next step when I get home from work today. If I have no issues on the second PC, what steps could I take to resolve this on my main desktop?

You should check if your hard drive is being used at 100% or if it is starting to have bad sectors.
To isolate the issue, you can temporarily disable the page file altogether. If the problem is solved that way, we can isolate the problem in the hard drive.

So a brief update after trying some of your suggestions. I had no issues with the mouse and keyboard on a different computer. Neither my SSD or my HDD are being used at 100%, and no bad sectors were detected on either. I disabled the page file, played a bit, made no difference. I also tried reinstalling the game onto my HDD (it was originally installed on my SSD) and still had the same problem.

The mouse issue is getting worse. There will be times now where the mouse stops functioning for a good 2 seconds. It stays turned on and lit up, but it refuses to move on screen. I only notice these issues in the game, I have never noticed the mouse or keyboard being weird just on the desktop.I successfully overclocked my CPU (i7-4770K) a few weeks ago and undid those changes to see if that may have been the issue, but it still happened.

Any other ideas?

Sorry, looked into it a little more, and this error is constantly in the event viewer during the times I am playing, not sure if it could possibly be related.

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ACPI\PNP0A0A\2&daba3ff&4.

Maybe there is a problem with the motherboard, GPU or CPU temperature. You can try using HwINFO to monitor the temperature.

High temperature causes freezes and damages components after a long time.
