So if my pc has been idle for while, then on first start up it makes a loud grinding noise. At first i thought it was because my CPU fan was plugged into pwrfan header instead of cpufan. Switching this did make my unit a lot quieter but it still makes the loud noise on an idle start up. The weird thing is that it will continue to make the noise until i restart, i can restart it immediately or wait 10 mins, either way it fixes itself afterwards. Any suggestions? Thanks

open the case and feel componets to see what one is the one making the grinding sound. usually a fan could be gpu, cpu, power supply, any intake or exhaust, and possibly even the dvd or hdd. those are the only things that move in a computer. 99% of time its fan. see if its hitting a wire or something. the grinder will vibrate so you will be able to feel it.
