i5 4590 vs i5 4690

Hi everyone
I plan to build a gaming pc and i don't know if i should get an i5 4690 or save some money and get an i5 4590. And if i go with the i5 4590 will the difference be humongous like one will run at ultra and the other very high( yes i consider that difference pretty big).
Please help me.

For gaming you won't see a difference between the two. If you wanted to save more money (assuming you're not getting the Microcenter deal on the 4590 for $160 or so) you could go for an i5 4440 or 4460.

Just like razerZ said, it won't make a difference. It's your graphics card that will judge if you can play at high or ultra.

Not necessarily. Overclocking a fourth gen i5 will result in a marginal performance increase in gaming.

I really dont see a point in going for a 4690k if you have no intention of OCing.

The 4460 is the 'sweet-spot' for intel budget gaming...

Idk, i bought my 2500k 2 years ago and it have been running at 4.7ghz all the time. Makes quite a difference from 3.3ghz stock. In fact it beats 4690 stock.

If that day i bought 2500 i would be stuck at 3.3ghz.

With sandy bridge there are noticeable performance gains with an overclock. I have a 2500k myself sitting at 4.8Ghz cooled by a D-15.

As I said earlier, with the new fourth gen CPUs this isn't the case and the performance gain is marginal.

The i5 4460 should not bottleneck dual 970s.

Well it can help in different applications such as rendering in CAD/ Video editing software, reducing retouch and post processing times in photoshop /lightroom, compressing large files, video transcoding speed, etc.

A 4460 would work great with 970 sli.

I recommend the 4590 above all other i5s. Overclocking is not worth the extra $100+
