Hi, I recently tweaked some components in my system to make it quieter. However once I did I found that my Corsair CX750M produces horrible coil whine, and the fan is the loudest in my system. I have attempted to RMA it, however my request was rejected.

So, I am now looking for a new power supply, and after an hour or so of research I narrowed it down to these two:
Corsair's RM1000 - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1000w-corsair-rm-series-full-modular-80-plus-gold-1x135mm-atx-v24-psu

and

SeaSonic's Fanless 520W 80+Pt - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/520w-seasonic-platinum-ss-520fl2-fanless-psu-80plus-platinum-full-modular-eps-12v-atx

These two power supplies are similarly priced, and my reason for comparing them is that the SeaSonic is a 520W fanless supply, and the RM1000 is essentially a fanless 400W supply with 600W of "fan cooled overhead", according to Corsair's fan curve, which allows for possible expansion.
However, the RM series has received some bad press because of the Ltec capacitors they use, whereas the SeaSonic one received a very strong review from JonnyGuru: ( http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=388 )

If you could help me choose between these two power supplies ( Or another suggestion ) I would be very grateful. Thankyou for your time :)

My current system specs are:
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
RAM: 4x2gb
Storage: 256gb Samsung 840, 1TB 7200RPM, 2TB 7200 RPM
GPU: R9 280X, however I plan to swap this out for a 750ti or 970 around September, as I am heading off to uni

Solution
I run an asus DirectCU II 780TI OC 3 GB

No whine from the GPU or the PSU at all for me, whether the units are that good or I got lucky. I've had this rig since Feb 2013

I considered those two, however I was unable to find a review containing any information on noise. If you own one of these, I would like to know what your experience has been :)

I can tell you that with MY unit in hybrid mode, the fan never goes on even when gaming.

Ah, that is intriguing. What graphics card are you running and is there any coil whine?

Thanks, I think I'll go with that! It's a slightly shorter warranty (5 years rather than 7), but I think that should be fine.
