Hi all,

Having browsed the forums for quite a while I've finally deciding to post.
As above I've been trying to overclock my cpu with some issues. I'm running this cpu on an asrock n68c-s ucc motherboard, 8gb hyper x savage ram (8gb is the limit on this board and only two slots available which both are used 2x4gb) ASUS AMD Radeon 7750 hd graphics card. Alpine 64 rev2 cpu fan.

The 4th core doesn't unlock successfully as the computer fails to boot.

stock +10% overclocking settings led to a freeze. I then set multiplier to 15 and frequency to around 230 to give a 3510mhz with 1.32 or 1.35 volts. Prime95 showed no issues but screen wouldn't come back on from sleep.

Anyone any recommendations on where to start? Or experience with overclocking this cpu still on x3 cores?

Thanks
Rik.

Hello,

You are trying to overclock using an old and non overclocking-friendly motherboard, so the results are actually OK. What is the CPU temperature? Try not to go over 70C.

Try to lock the PCI-e at 100MHz (CPU, PCIE, ASYNC) and RAM at 1600 MHz (don't let them to AUTO), Spread Spectrum disabled anywhere, HT speed to x4, NB speed to 1600MHz. Monitor closely the motherboard' temperature, especially the CPU VRM, the 4-pin CPU plug and the chipset.

I was thinking that. I was a budget build at the time and I had no notion of ever gaming on a PC until I downloaded a flight sim.

Temps where fine, 56 was the highest I think. That was playing x-plane. Idle and normal tasks, the cpu temp was no different. Il try what you mentioned there. Will I keep the multiplier at 15 or try 16 on a lower frequency?
