I currently have an intel build with the following specs: N68C-GS FX motherboard 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram gtx 550ti amd phenom II X4 840 3.2ghz, crosair 430W PSU

I decided that intel has better performance and to begin to make the switch to intel. I don't have a large budget right now, so I just want to get a new CPU and a future proof motherboard. The CPU I want to get is: Intel Pentium G3258 CPU and my questions are:

1) What motherboard should I get to make this build future proof, and to overclock this cpu. I want to eventually get an i7 and a better graphics card.
2) for overclocking, is the Asus Royal Knight 120mm EBR CPU Cooler OK for this?
3) I have a 430W PSU, I don't need to upgrade it for this CPU and motherboard right?

my budget is £100

If you want overclocking later on your theoretical upgrade to an i7, you need an Intel "k" cpu paired with a Z97 motherboard and cpu cooler.
If you not looking for future overclocking support then certain H81 or H87/H97 motherboards are fine.

so there isn't a motherboard that can support the cpu i listed and future overclocking cpus? also, what about my other questions

The Z97 can support a G3258 and any 1150 socket cpu (i5 4690k or i7 4790k) with overclocking. It's just out of your £100 budget at the moment.
It would be more expensive later on as you may need to swap both your G3258 and whatever cheap motherboard you got with it if you want overclocking.

The MSI Gaming 3 is an average Z97. You can use it if you not going to use SLI. The ones I linked has the capability to run SLI.

Save an extra £30 mate, get your G3258 and a Z97 mobo then your good to go. The G3 will overclock easily to 4.2 on stock cooling and will server you will until you want to go i5/i7.

Nothing stopping you getting a cheapo £40 mobo now with no overclocking capability but you are locking yourself in a dead end as you won't be able to overclock in future.
