I had NTFS formatted Western Digital external HDD that was working perfectly fine. I plugged into Ubuntu machine and then I plug back into windows, I no longer see the HDD.
I open disk management and see that my WD HDD has something like "EFI protected disk". I right click on it and I dont get option to do anything (Format, assign drive letter, etc..)
I vaguely remember facing the same problem and I found solution in internet that reqired opening hard-drive in hex-editor and replacing a number in some offset by "0x07" and I was able to get my HDD to work perfectly fine after that without losing even a byte of data. Now I cant seem to find that solution in google even after whole day of searching. Can someone please help me with this? I suspect ubuntu has tried to identifymy HDD as mac formatted disk and corrupted the partition table.
P.S. The disk is perfectly fine with no bad sectors.
