What RAM speed is correct?

I recently built a new PC and I am unsure if the RAM/Motherboard is working properly. The RAM I am using is (newegg) Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB DDR3-1600. I have two of these kits.

I have tested it and it all seems to be OK but in the BIOS with XMP enabled it says one is running at DDR3-1600 and the other set is running at DDR3-1333. CPU-Z shows something is running at DDR3-1600 speeds.

I have included an image of the BIOS showing this as well as the CPU-Z screenshot showing the DDR3-1600 speed in Windows.

So what speed is the RAM running at? Is it even possible for the sets to run at different speeds like that?

Very strange, At least your system is detecting 16GB and at the top in the overview it says it is running at 1600Mhz, could just be a bug.. One way to test is to remove the pair from A2 and B2, reboot into bios and check, then turn off the system and swap the sticks around and test the other pair

They are all the same though. 2x kits of the same thing.

I swapped them around and now it says A1 and B1 are 1333 but it still shows 1600 in windows and on the top overview. Upon closer inspection with CPUz the JEDEC timings are different for each set. Also note the part number between the sets and one uses a different XMP version.

Leave XMP on - it is/was running at 1600 (all of it), where you are looking at the CPU-Z SPD page that's simply the info in the SPD of the sticks, not what it is/was running at - it's simply information. And no, it wasn't running at 1333 as said above the CPU-Z memory tab clearly shows the DRAM at 799.9 - since this is DDR (DOUBLE DATA RATE) take the true true freq x 2 = effective data rate of 1599.8 (basically 1600). In the SPD tab it shows the sticks are different revisions with the second pair being newer and having a higher default of 1600 which is common these days in the XMP1 timings both still show the same base specs of 1600 - the older had the earlier default of 1333

Believe it or not, the older pair is the "faster" set. It also has the more recent XMP profile version. It made me wonder why this is, my guess is newegg sourced the recent stock from somebody who had a stockpile sitting around for ages and gave them away dirt cheap. They were only $30 when I picked them up so it is hard to complain about the differences if they are running at 1600.
