Ram Consumption Increased after Ram Upgrade

Last month I upgraded my Ram from 8GB to 16GB, but my overall ram consumption has increased for no reason.

I'm using same programs like before:

Firefox, Chrome (Almost same No. of open tabs)
Skype
Word/Excel
Photoshop CC

When I was using 8GB, my average ram consumption was around 60-70% (Around 5-6GB), but now my normal ram consumption is around 9GB (WHEN NOT USING PHOTOSHOP).

I've monitored Photoshop CC as well but PS only uses 1-2GB. (I don't mind it).

My question is, why my ram consumption has increased when I'm using almost same kind of programs as before (with 8GB Ram)?

My others Specs are
Core i7 4700MQ
1TB HDD + 24GB SSD

Thanks.

I see, OK. But if this is the case, how does upgrading ram helps boosting speed etc?

I mean on 8GB, my ram usage was abt 70%, slowing down my PC.
& now on 16GB my ram usage is around 60-70%, when it should have been only 35-40% when compared with 8GB!

What is Disk Caching? Can I get some or most ram back to "FREE" without risking anything?

When I newly upgraded the ram to 16GB, it did kept the average ram usage below 40% for a few days, but now its always around 60%.

Also when I'm not using my laptop, I simply put it on sleep. I usually shut down or restart after 2-3 weeks. Does it have anything to do with it?

OS copies some stuff from RAM and puts it onto ur HHD or SSD. And it swaps it out when needed to save space. It's called "Paging". Thats why when your computer crashes and you have Word file unsaved, it is still technically saved ON HDD and you can "recover" it.

When you increased to 16gb, ur computer doesn't need to save space anymore because you have lots of ram. You are still paging tho.

Yeah putting it to sleep, doesn't dump ur memory. Restart when needed or use programs like Advanced System Care(free) to dump files off ur RAM.

OK. Why does Chrome takes too much ram? I've around 20 tabs open & each tab is taking a lot of ram!
Here is a screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/iIMQ7oWtq1

I believe Chrome should take only few hundred MBs of ram at MAX no matter how many tabs are open! What you think ?

Chrome is a RAM hogging piece of shit nowadays. It hogs up post of my RAM out of any program.

I see, OK.

When I use Photoshop sometimes it gets too slow & it consumes abt 2.5gb of ram (even with small sized files like 50mb)

Its Page File Drive has 100gb spare, so its not the problem.
And still a 5-6 gb ram is freely available. What could be possible reasons for PS CC slowing down ?

I don't use any 3rd party plugins. I think I'm noticing this issue few days after the ram upgrade!

Any ideas/suggestions?

Its running in dual mode. Yes speed rating & memory timings are exactly the same in both rams.
