Hey there, i am new at here so let me know if i am posting this at wrong place :)

I want to use single wired keyboard and mouse for 2 PCs. one is windows and other is mac.

Is there any hardware mod or hardware hack which will allow me to use single wired keyboard for 2 PCs and i can easily switch my keyboard form my windows to my mac without manually changing the keyboard.

I have 2 setups and i had had separate mice and keyboard for each setup. but now i moved to a new house and my room is too small to fit both setups separately so i need to use 1 keyboard and 1 mouse for both PCs.
I will be using 1 pc at a time so i dont need the keyboard to be active at both PC at the same time.

What i need is simple way to switch my keyboard from PC1 to PC2 without having to manually change its USB port from back.

Hope it was understandable.

Thanks in advance :)

One other solution if you have different screens for both computers is a software called synergy, both computers will have to be hooked up to the same network. The major benefit though is that you can seamlessly transition from one computers screen to the other as if it was one computer.

You setup one machine as the "server" and then the other machine is the client and input the 1st machines computer name or IP address and then it will connect.

Here is a quick breakdown about the pros/cons vs a kvm switch listed above:
Pros: No additional hardware/cables, and you can scroll move the mouse back and forth from one computer to the other
Cons: Being a software solution it can freeze up. You either need to have the software auto-run at startup or manually start the program which will require a keyboard or mouse (you could overcome this using teamviewer or other remote desktop software).
