Hi guys, today i swapped in the Asus Maximus hero vi, which is Z87. I knew i needed to do a bios update for this to work. After reading up lots of forum guides and video tutorials I decided to give it a try. So first thing i did was plug the motherboard in the PSU. Carefully connected the 8pin and 24pin power connectors. I downloaded the 1505 bios update zip and unzipped it to a clean formatted usb exfat32. I manually renamed the file to M6H.CAP. I entered the USB into the correct usb slot by the bios re-flash button. I powered the motherboard on and held the reflash switch on until it blinked blue. I waited until it stopped blinking, which i think means its done. Now i started connecting all the cables. power led/switch, Sata cables to HDD/SSD, hooked up my dual channel ram 16gb hyper x savage 2400mhz to slots 1 and 3, lastly i installed my i7 4790k cpu and put thermal paste on top, covering it with a corsair h100i. Plugged everything in and the h100i works (herd pump and lights up).

Here is my problem. When i turn the power on everything lights up, corsair red cooler, motherboard , fans are blowing. However the monitor stays black and i can se 00 on the motherboard LED.

If any of you was in the same situation as me let me know what i have done wrong or forgot. LOL
Currently kind of stuck. Next thing im gonna try will be removing the corsair h100i and fitting it with a stock cooler.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, I know there is a possibility that the bios usb re flash did not work. Ill try to do it again tonight. Can anyone tell me if I can do it with my i7 4790k in the motherboard? Because if I take it out I would have to re apply cpu paste :/ lol

if the boards supports your cpu yeah. if not you have to do it without. here a video that may help you http://rog.asus.com/technology/republic-of-gamers-motherboard-innovations/usb-bios-flashback/
but I was reading... some users suggest that you need a cpu to be installed in some cases to update the BIOS.

Hey guys thanks for the advice, but i reflashed the bios 2 more times and it worked. You cannot have a DC processor in it. And you must use the bios rename tool downloadable via Asus support website. First i just simply renamed the file myself but that did not work... so heads up for anyone else doing this.

Do the flash again from the back of your computer with usb but don't power on your computer just push the button and keep pressed in for 4 seconds then let go and wait till the blue light stops flashing and the green light stops that's on your mother board. then when it stops then turn your computer on
