I'm trying to upgrade my PSU and GPU but 5 problems are bugging me from upgrading.

This is what I'm running as of now:

-1TB WD HDD
-Sapphire Radeon R9 270x
-i5-4430 LGA1150
-MSI B85M-G43 MB
-8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X
-500W Corsair CX500
-Windows 8.1 64bit
-Zalman CNPS5X CPU cooler
-And for the case I have a Fractal Design R4 Windowed edition

I'm looking at getting this GPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202079

And also looking at this PSU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438034

The 5 problems bugging me are 'is the wattage enough?', 'will the PSU fit in the case?', 'will the GPU even fit in my case?', 'will the GPU fit with the motherboard while not trying to force it in?' and 'is the GPU compatible with my MB?'

Any helpful answers would be great :)

PS - I'm fairly new to the PC building world so my questions may sound real noobish.

Solution
1.- Yes, the PSU is more than enough for your build + the new GPU.

2.- Yes it will fit, standard size so its just like your CX500

3.- from Fractal Design website:

Graphics cards up to 295mm in length with the top HDD cage installed
With the top cage removed, graphics cards up to 430mm in length may be installed

your R9 290X is about 300mm so you'll need to remove the top cage.

4.- Yes it will fit

5.- It is compatible, however its possible that you might need to update your mobo's BIOS, do it with your older card before placing the new GPU in.

One thing to consider, for that price you could get the GTX 970, slightly faster and way more efficient.

Roughly the same performance, quieter, cooler, matches the motherboard (msi claims to get better performance with matching mobo/gpu than with other brand gpu), equivalent quality psu, and cheaper.

Yeah, only in 4k gaming you'd have some effects of the VRAM issue, and in games the impact is not as big as the synthetic tests have shown, certainly the 970 will deliver you a slight better performance with a far better efficiency than the 290x.
