I had tested the motherboard outside of the case using the cpu and ram and it booted. However, after getting everything connected in the case it won't power on. Could it be the gpu or the power supply is too weak or something else? Also at one point the case had power and did power on the front fans, but nothing else was starting.

my part list:
Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H
Pentium G3258
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2x4GB
Corsair CX430m psu

Take it out of the case. If it works then, then the mobo may have been shorting out by touching the metal plate in the case. If it doesn't work, something broke between you testing it first and you putting everything in...

Try using a screw driver to turn it on rather than the case power button. The case buttons could be faulty or plugged into the wrong places on the Mobo. The mobo should have come with a small diagram showing where to plug things in.

Already tried that and got nothing from it sadly.

okay so it doesn't start up now outside the case....sigh I've been through this twice. I couldn't have killed two motherboards like this. I just don't get what keeps going wrong.
