So I have this Old Lenovo Thinkpad that my boss gave me after it crashed and wouldn't turn on. Our Network guy said it wasn't worth fixing so my boss gives me the laptop and says put it with all the other broken laptops in case we need it for parts later. I told him this laptop was unique and we had no others like it. I asked if I could fix it can I have it, He said sure.

So I figured out it had a bad fan the basically caused the processor to burn out. I searched on eBay for replacement parts and found a processor and fan for a combined price of about 20 bucks, also found a new keyboard for 15 bucks. the factory specs were an Intel Celeron 1.86ghz processor 1 gb ram and a 60 gb HDD running Windows Vista Basic. I replaced the Processor with an Intel core2 duo 2.2 ghz processor and upgraded the ram to 4 gb with parts I had from old laptops laying around the shop. Upgraded the HDD to 300gb with a spare HDD I had from one of my old laptops (I never throw out HDD's from old PC's) and installed Windows 7 Professional using a Key from again an old shop laptop. All works great except the network printer. Every Time I power down the laptop and restart it I lose the connection with the printer. I have to delete the printer and reinstall it for it to work again. I tried to restart the print spool server and that doesn't work. The only way the printer works is if I delete and reinstall. And if the host PC is powered down and restarted the printer still works. Also this PC never had a problem printing before and I'm sure I am missing something.

Thank You in advance for any information you may provide. I tried to give as much info as possible.

Not that I know of. What I do know is that the wireless router requires that the MAC address be programmed to it. WE do not have access to it, only ADP can access it. Any time we get a new wireless device we have to call ADP with the MAC address and they enter the info. Not sure if that means it has a static IP
