Yea andy_Man. Developers of Direct X 12 are planning to change that. They now want each GPU to render a part of the screen. But honestly what if the GPU's are different. Maybe one is slower than the other one so rendering a part of the screen maybe lag on one part? Also they wanna allow AMD's GPU's to combine with other ones maybe Nvidia or GTX. So you can cross GPU's from different brands so games can utilize those different types.Honestly each GPU should render part of a pixel when in Crossfire/SLI if the GPUS are different maybe one is lagging behind so one part of the screen look different.

From what I read it is supposed to adjust automatically, having the gpus render the portion of the screen in ratio to their power. It wouldn't be each card renders half unless they were similar power. For example, stronger card might render 60% and weaker 40% so that on each of their rendered sections their frames match up.
