I recently installed windows 7 on a dell optiplex 755, since then it boots for a very short time when shut down. It does this every 10 minutes. It goes as follows:
Fan starts, power on button and CD light flip on. 2 seconds later everything shuts down again.
It's not quite pleasant and I don't know how to prevent it from happening except unplugging the device. Anyone familiar with this issue?

I had the same problem and solved it.

Restart your PC and by seeing the DELL loge press cntrl P
You're now entering the Intel® Management Engine (ME)

First key in the default password = admin
You then have to change the password to one of your own choice, the rules are displayed.
Don't forget the password !!!!!! (from here I only can help you out of my memory, i.e. I lost my password)

Go into Power Controll
Then goto into "ME On in Host Sleep States "
I think I changed the setting to the first option, only sure for 95% (I did it 18 months ago)

After save and reboot the problem is solved

See also the Dell 755 User Guide, section Intel® Management Engine (ME)
