I was wondering if there is a way to manage upload bandwith. I constanly lag due to my upload traffic always being maxed out (caused by streams and netflix). Would setting my computer to a different group than my familly in my router fix this lag issue? I have a friends with the same ISP and plan as some frinds and they never seem to lag when people use netflix or stream at their houses. (7mb/sdown / .7mbs up) its the fastest available to our town. Im not sure if there is a way to help reduce the upload traffic, but if there is a way, please let me know with step by step solutions if possible.
thank you.

For starters, games seldom favor upload as their connection medium. Setting your computer to a different group is not going to achieve anything, at the end of the day you're only as fast as the connection coming into your home. Depending on your family's usage, your usage, if you're wired directly or wireless, all of these are factors that can contribute to "lag". If 7mb x .7 is the fastest available, then you're kinda stuck between a rock and a hardplace. 7mb down is about good enough for one person streaming netflix HD, maybe an additional system or 2 web browsing or surfing the internet. I would say, if it's lag you're concerned about, advise any and all users in the house to not connect their mobile phones, tablets...

Just turn off that wireless. Also, if you're connected wirelessly, connect with an ethernet cable directly into the router. If you're too far away from the router, there's walls in between, rooms, etc then no wonder you're lagging. In order to further assist you I'll need to know the following:

- Are you connected wireless or hard wired via ethernet cable?
- Is your provider a Cable or ADSL provider?
- If you're connected wirelessly, what obstructs your line of site to the router
- What model router/modem do you have?
- How many people connect to the internet through that gateway at once?

If you can answer at least some of those questions, I'm definitely willing to help. I'm a Lead Technician for a small ISP in California, I deal with these types of issues all the time.
