Installing Windows From USB Giving Me Troubles

I can't figure out why this is causing me so much trouble! I've decided it was time to completely reset my computer. I got a Windows 8 ISO, and mounted it to a thumb drive. I went into my BIOS, and set my thumb drive as the primary boot device, and rebooted. It booted back into Windows, which I thought was odd. So, I go back into my bios, and completely remove the hard drive as a boot option. Still boots into Windows. So then I got this crazy idea to remove the hard drive from the computer. Well, it finally booted into the thumb drive. I got to the point where it asks "Where do you want to install Windows?" and decided to attempt to plug my hard drive back in while my computer was still running. I hit refresh and Bingo! By hard drive appeared.

However, I'm getting an error "Windows can't be installed on this drive". I also noticed that when I partition the drive manually, I get an error that says "Windows can't be installed on drive 1 partition 1. (Show details)". When I click show details, it says "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.

I searched through the BIOS and couldn't find anything about a disk controller. Also, I previously had Windows 8 installed on the computer with no problems. The only difference is, I believe I installed from the disks previously. which I no longer have.

I should also mention that my motherboard is from a Asus Essentio cm5571-br003 computer.

Thank you for your help! Unfortunately, I don't have access to another Windows machine at the moment. I had reformatted my Windows drive trying to get it to install. I'm on Mac at the moment. I tried using Disk Utility to install the Windows iso, but I got the error "Could not validate source - invalid argument". I'm beginning to think it could be a problem with my iso.

Thanks for the suggestion. Already tried several ports, all with the same result.
