Hey guys,
I need a bit of help in deciding what ram should I get to upgrade my PC?
Specs:
MOBO: GA 78LMT USB3
Processor: AMD FX4300 Black Edition
Ram: Kingston HyperX Genesis 4GB Spec Sheet
550W PSU

I'm upgrading my PC. Setting up Dual Monitor with Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon R7 260X 2GB
I need to upgrade my ram as well, but the Genesis series is discontinued by Kingston.
I'm thinking of getting Kingston HyperX Fury 4GB Spec Sheet to plug it in Dual Channel with Genesis from here.
I contacted Kingston to know if it would work, they replied
KHX1600C9D3/4G (Genesis series) is discontinued, we do not recommend adding Fury with this part number as Fury is plug and play and come with different SPD, apology for any inconvenience caused.

Can you guys recommend any good module to dual channel with my preexisting memory?

Any & All help is appreciated! Thank You!

Its not the same as the Fury, this will work with "XMP" not "PnP" which is what would give the troubles besides latency difference's.
You can contact Kingston again to be sure.

"XMP"="Extreme Memory Profile".
"PnP"=Plug and Play".

Your other ram stick uses XMP too.

Well I thought some BIOS tweaking might do the trick :D
So ain't there any other module that will work with my system? am I doomed? :(

I edited the previous reply, guess you didn't read it.
Its not available on any online store in India. Even if kingston says its good I won't be able to buy it.

This one seems good. But my i guess it'll result in performance drop to 1333mhz.
I'll mail to kingston about it. If they say no again, then I'm just gonna buy fury.
If i plug in fury and genesis in dual channel, how much performance drop will i experience compared to working dual channel?or will there be any problems?
Or can i plug in Gskill 1600mhz 4gb module with genesis?
Currently my genesis gives me Single Channel 3.5GB @800Mhz

The problems are not with performance,it's with the differences between the specs of the ram.

Do you have a 64bit version of windows? Looking at this.

Looking at that 3.5gb,with a 4gb stick would you suspect that 4gb would be available with a 64bit windows. With a 32bit windows would this be more what i would expect.

Yes you can put sticks in different slots, use the same colored ones for dualchannel.

so i can use different modules in single channel, thats good!

what difference does it really make running two modules in single channel and dual channel? and how worse will i be affected by it by using both in single channel?

I'm using 64bit because i planned it before hand that i'll increase memory in future.

these conditions are for if kingston denied compatibility for blu module.

so even if fury and genesis modules have got different specs, i can put then in same color slots and run?

That has nothing to do with them being in single- or dualchannel. It has to do with the differences in specs which probably will make them not play nice together, whether that is in single- or dualchannel doesn't matter.

Then I suppose Blu is my only option.
Just hoping that it better be compatible!
Thank You for all you help, i'll update you when i'll get a response from Kingston!

From what i've found so far it is your only option and i think it is compatible.

You're welcome.:)
I'd like to hear what they say.

KHX1600C9D3B1/4G has identical XMP profile as KHX1600C9D3/4G, XMP profile 1600MHz 9-9-9-27 @ 1.65v, default SPD at 1333MHz 9-9-9-27 1.5V. Please note that we are unable to guarantee the stability as they are from different product line, and not so sure if the XMP profile could be detected without problem with these two DIMMs installed in the system

this is their reply. Anyways I'm gonna get this module and try my luck with it, its better than nothing :)

I would try that too.Just make sure your settings are for the original ram,it has the 1.65V that's needed. The new would be able to work at 1.5V,but will work perfectly at 1.65V too.

Anyone here will say the same, two different sets or just sticks might not work together. If XMP wouldn't work could you try set the speed, timings and voltage manually.Just add the new stick and see what happens. If it doesn't work can we look further.
