Most Powerful GPU for £300-£350

Can anybody tell the absolute most powerful GPU in that price range? I was thinking GTX 970 but don't know that there might a more powerful GPU for a little more, any answers are appreciated! Power hungry cards are not a problem as I have a very overkill PSU!

it's a toss up between a 290/290X and the 970, 970 coming in at £250ish (base price), and 290's @£225, 290X's @£290.

290 and 970 trade blows, 290X beats them both. BUT there are issues with the AMD cards (can you cope with the power draw and the noise knowing that there is an option). You are about £60 short of a 980.

The other factor to consider is what are you using it for? 1080p then any of the above will do well, 1440p 290X (970 with sacrifices), 2160p none of the above. Multiscreen (not sure).

But are you going to be able to use that extra power that you are paying a lot for? the difference is about £210 you are then very close to SLI 970. I'd go 970 and then SLI if needs be.

1080p atm but only have a 750ti, that is why i want to ugrade at get a better monitor the future
