Hello, I see this is an older post but I just came across it. If it has not been resolved, re-post. Due to your symptoms, you may be dealing with a hardware problem. Just wanted to verify the basic's. 64 bit system 64 bit O.S. etc.. Also, find out when the "freeze" issue started with windows 7.

Oh hi, sorry. I logged in to type my problem but then I wanted to help some people too...

It may be that you have a 32 bit hardware and you accidentally installed a 64 bit OS. But even if you did. It wouldn't boot. So... Try booting in safe mode (which I am sure you already did.) (f8)Choose troubleshoot option. Press Advanced options. Choose Startup settings. It should give you option to enable low res - debug - boot logging - safe mode - etc. Click on the restart button. This time press f4 to enter into Safe Mode. If computer boots normally. Go to control panel - system - device manager. Expand display adapter and disable intel hd graphics (if you have a second graphics card).
If you ask why i think intel hd is the problem. It's because intel hd graphics may sometimes crash and give you blackscreen or freeze. If you disable it manually it takes you to use your second graphics card. If problem continues; try to check for bad sectors on disk (disk defragger). If none works. Our last hope is a fresh format.
