Hey all, whats the best free dvd/cd burning software out there? I've searched google and all but I see alot of people saying their mailware, like imgburn and Ashampoo, what would you guys recommend?

Solution

The easiest way to make a Bootable Linux device is by using a USB Flash Drive and Linuxlive. http://www.linuxliveusb.com/

Give it a try, easier to deal with, allows Persistent mode meaning you can run the OS from a Flash drive without installing or allows you to install directly.

As far as a Free Burner Ashampoo is pretty decent just make sure to read what it installs and...

right now, i am trying to make a Ubuntu cd, i know i can use windows built in iso burner, but there are no options to burn it at the slowest rate, and also I might want to make some video/slideshow disks in the future

'People', are frequently wrong.
Same as ImgBurn. I've also used that.

It depends where they get it from. Download.com? Probably includes some crapware. Direct from the source, and pay attention when you install? No problem.

ok, im pretty cautious when installing software, i always pay attention to what exactly is being installed and I always choose"advanced" so i can pick what crap not to install.

but anyway thanks for the tips, I just wanted to make sure I'll try Ashampoo
