i7 4790k and G.Skill TridentX 2400

Solution
Its actually the JEDEC standard profiles that the 1.5 volt thing applies to.... Intel XMP is not JEDEC compliant and it's the XMP speed that you see on every package of RAM sold today. If ya wanna see what Intel lists on their compatibility list for i5/i7 CPUs go here

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/extreme-memory-profile-xmp.html

and click on the excel or PDF files on the right side. You will find that well over 50% of the RAM on Intel's Certified Compatible List is > 1.5 volts and that it does way way up past 1600.

I'm not sure what modules the Trident is using these days..... what I have surmised is that if the 2400 has 10-12-12-28 timings, they're Hynix modules (Mushkin Redline) which are known to handle up to...

I'm not sure what modules the Trident is using these days..... what I have surmised is that if the 2400 has 10-12-12-28 timings, they're Hynix modules (Mushkin Redline) which are known to handle up to 1.9 volts and higher. Corsair Dominators and Vengenace Pros dropped to 10-12-12-31 when they stopped using Hynix so I am assuming that anything with those timings isn't Hynix.

I always go for the Redlines on personal builds even if I have to wait till them come back in stock as they are frequently sold out. But No, you won't have any problems with 2400 or higher speed Trident RAM because 1.65v RAM is in fact certified by Intel for compatibility with i5 / i7 under XMP.

You should have no trouble using 1.65 at the CPUs stock speed. I left DRAM voltage on Auto w/ my 4770k and it adjusted voltage up to 1.671 on 46 multiplier and 1.740 at 47 multiplier..... I then started raising cache multiplier and Auto became unstable after cache ration of 43 so i went to a fixed 1.7 volts. At 46 CPU Multilier / 46 Cache I needed 1.725

I'm now running at 46 multilier 43 cache with 1.675 DRAM voltage
